SAT

This piece was inspired by my grandfather, who lived in Punjab, India. My mother visited him from the UK just before he passed away, and he gave her a piece of fabric for me and said,
-Sathi will know what to do with her.
(Sathi is how my name is pronounced in India.)
When my first daughter, Emilia, was born, I always knew there was something different about her. When I first heard the word "autism," I knew nothing about it; I'd never heard the word before, and at first, I had to learn from Google. As my mother would say, "Don't search on Dr. Google."
As time goes by, I continue to learn. Every day is a new day, and every day has its own challenges.
The sunrise and sunset, embroidered on the fabric of my piece, remind me of my grandfather's words, "Sathi will know what to do with her."
There are days when I question everything, there are also sleepless nights and worry about my daughter's future. But there are also days when I have everything under control and watch Emilia blossom into a beautiful young lady, and in those moments, I think to myself, "Emilia will know what to do."
