DESSERT

Sobremesa is a collaborative art project promoted by EMPOWER in collaboration with the ICO Foundation.
It seeks to activate the museum as a space for listening and learning, highlighting and bringing to the table the need for more open and accessible cultural institutions.
For 10 months, artist Marina Fernandez and a group of mothers participating in the Empower Parents program created a patchwork of intimate, sincere, and deeply moving stories. These stories reflect the thoughts and life stories of families with children with ASD. These stories revolve around the need to create more accessible spaces that guarantee the participation of all people in cultural life.

This piece was inspired by my grandfather, who lived in Punjab, India. My mother came to visit him from the UK just before he passed away...
